Preparation and properties of fine-denier polyphenylene sulfide fiber
“Under high temperature melting and oxygen environment, polyphenylene sulfide is prone to oxidation crosslinking, resulting in reduced fluidity. To solve the problems of high temperature oxidation and rapid crystallization rate of polyphenylene sulfide resin, an indirect method was used to spin 0.89 dtex fine denier fibers, and the entire production process was protected with nitrogen gas. The influence of nitrogen on oxidative crosslinking during granulation process, the effect of crystallization temperature on elongation at 1.5 times the initial tensile tension of the precursor, the effect of melt flowability on spinning forming, and the influence of post stretch ratio and setting temperature on the chemical resistance of fibers were studied. The results showed that under nitrogen protection, the slices of polyphenylene sulfide did not exhibit sulfone or sulfoxide peaks in the Fourier transform infrared spectrum, while the slices without nitrogen protection showed obvious sulfone and sulfoxide peaks. When the crystallization temperature is between 215~220 ℃, the elongation of the primary fibers is 150~160%, and the tensile performance is optimal. When the particle size of the component sea sand and the combined pore size of the filter screen are 250 μ m and 830/58/42/270 μ m, respectively, the number of wire breaks is 2 times/h, and the component pressure is controlled at 12 MPa, ensuring stable production. The total stretching ratio is 3.8, and the second stage ratio is distributed at 85%. The fiber fracture strength and elongation at break are 5.02 cN/dtex and 30.1%. The tension and relaxation setting temperatures are 185 ℃ and 135 ℃, respectively. The acid resistance and alkaline strength retention rates are 97.5% and 97.9%, and the fiber shrinkage rate is controlled below 4.5%, indicating high dimensional stability of the woven fabric. When the fine denier fiber is blended with 2.22 dtex coarse denier fiber and the fine denier fiber mass fraction increases from 0% to 100%, the air permeability of the woven fabric decreases from 160 L/(dm2 · min) to 90 L/(dm2 · min), and the filtration performance of the filter bag is significantly improved. This study provides a feasible process plan for controlling performance indicators such as spinnability, mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and shrinkage rate of 0.89 dtex fine denier fiber melt.”
