Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC), represented by tools such as DeepSeek and ChatGPT, is reshaping traditional academic research and evaluation. To uphold academic integrity and research transparency, the Editorial Office of Engineering Plastics Application hereby issues the following policy statement:

  1. This journal does not accept manuscript submissions that list generative artificial intelligence as a co-author. Additionally, references must not include papers labeled as AI-generated content. Should any manuscript be found to have its core content—especially key elements such as facts and viewpoints—generated by AI, it will be treated as academic misconduct.
  2. If artificial intelligence is used during manuscript preparation for tasks such as text processing, data handling, academic image generation, algorithm/program creation, text generation, or language polishing, authors must explicitly disclose the following in an appropriate section of the paper or as an attachment:
    • Specific software name and version
    • Time of use
    • Detailed description of the usage process
    • Role and contribution of the AI tool
This disclosure enables reviewers and the editorial office to assess the originality of the work. Manuscripts deemed to involve academic misconduct will be rejected or retracted.
  3. Reviewers using AI tools during the peer-review process must exercise caution and responsibility:
         (1) Auxiliary Use: AI tools should serve as aids for tasks such as literature retrieval, language checks, and formatting standardization. Reviewers must not rely solely on AI for final decisions.
         (2) Confidentiality: Ensure no manuscript information—including author identities or research content—is disclosed through AI tools. Academic confidentiality must be strictly maintained.
          (3) Transparency: If AI tools are used, reviewers must explicitly state this in their review reports and clarify the tool’s role and limitations in the evaluation process.
